March is Women’s History Month! To celebrate the contribution of local women, Districtly Speaking hosted a town hall featuring women in the arts. During the hour-long discussion, artists discussed the importance of arts education and influence of the arts in low-income communities. But the highlight of the night was reviewing some of the artwork from local talent. Kimberly White, a new artist, displayed some of her artwork for the first time since she began painting a few years. Annie Kochowitz and Shani Simpson showed off some of their best pieces as well. And the audience was forever engaged in this interesting discussion on the arts. So how would you grade the local arts scene in the DMV?
