Jonelle Henry is a veteran political journalist, academic leader, and social justice advocate who brings unique insights from two decades covering Washington politics as a C-SPAN senior producer. 

Currently serving as inaugural director of the University of Florida’s CJCxDC program—the College of Journalism and Communications’ Washington, DC immersion experience—she specializes in designing transformative educational experiences that bridge newsroom practice and  academic excellence. Her innovative approach to professional development connects students directly with DC’s political and media ecosystem while building essential industry partnerships. 

Beyond the classroom, she continues her community impact through Districtly Speaking town halls and advocacy work with organizations like the White Dress Project and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. 

Recent recognition includes the 2024 DC Hope Award and Pearl Essence Distinguished Service Award, and service on a the National Media Task Force with the Washington Association of Black Journalists and Black and Missing Foundation. for missing persons coverage advocacy. 

Based in Washington, DC., Jonelle is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and serves on multiple boards advancing diversity in media and advocacy. 

She is available for keynote presentations, panel discussions, and workshops on media literacy, journalism education, experiential learning design, and community engagement.
